About 25 miles north of Cusco is the ancient town of Maras, one of the most beautiful tourist hotspots in the Sacred Valley. This relatively small and peaceful town is long famed for its salt ponds ‒ all 5,000 of them! Their staggering number and extension throughout the valley make for an absolutely unique landscape in all of South America.
